My name is Philippa
Clark. I am a part time administrative assistant for Caberfeidh Horizons. We
are a small charity which runs a first class second hand bookshop.
Mine is the easy job!
A group of carers, whose
dependents have varying degrees of learning difficulties and disabilities,
developed the idea of opening a second hand bookshop in Badenoch and
Strathspey in the Highlands of Scotland. The intention is to provide
opportunities for workplace experience for citizens with learning
difficulties and also for local High School pupils.
Such a shop is also a
valuable resource for our community.
This is a genuinely
community and client led project.
The result is that premises
have been purchased and refurbished, and the shop is set to open in the very
near future.
When I applied for this job
- I am the only paid member involved - I thought the idea was both
inspirational and ambitious. It is a tribute to the many members of the
community who have devoted a great deal of time and effort, patience,
persistence and determination that their vision is about to become a
reality.
We hope you will visit us
to see for yourselves just what can be achieved through collective effort.
